THE SNOWMOBILE party moving into the fastnesses (sic) of the extreme portion of the
Keweenaw Peninsula is shown above. The group here is about four miles from the Point
and must still ford two small creeks which proved not difficulty to the rugged machines
in use. Dr. Harold Allen is in the lead here and it is he who is driving the lead snowmobile.
It took the party about an hour to negotiate the distance from the logging road junction
to the Point location. The trip brought back early James Oliver Curwood readings concerning
his tales of the varied American regions. Curwood often experienced trips into snow country,
especially in the area where he had a onetime camp in the Huron Mountains, outside L'Anse.
